Bordeaux Oxygène

It's about friendship

When people ask us what Bordeaux Oxygen is (BO2 for those in the know), the first answer that comes to mind is: "it's about friendship". Childhood friends, university or school friends, or even friends that came along later, the common theme is friendship.

Uniting us, and what guided our desire to join together, is first and foremost who we are: a new generation with a desire to lead...

A generation that is a reflection of its time, heir to a longstanding tradition, yet also axed towards openness. Uniting us is also, and most importantly, our faith in Bordeaux and our passion for Wine.

These two common points have naturally led us to exchange and share our information. Exchanging together about our different issues, either in production, communication or commercialization. Sharing our ambitions, our discoveries, around tasting sessions of course, as often as possible, moderation not always being our when it involves learning and sharing...

Our objectives?

Defend our savoir-faire, our identity and our style of wine in an increasingly globalised environment. Defend an extremely precious tradition, one that we have either grown-up with or have come to adopt. Open new horizons for our wines, reaching new audiences, to continue sharing our history.

Bordeaux Oxygène

Our advantages?

Our youth, our freedom of action, either in our vineyards or in our respective place of business. In the collective imagination, Bordeaux is not always a synonym of youth. However, Bordeaux surprises more and more often by the age of its newest participants. Blowing the dust off the wine world, with a more open and, without a doubt more complete, vision of today's wine world than our parents could have had in the past.

And our challenges?

They are numerous of course, yet perhaps the most essential is to make people want Bordeaux. Yes, WANT. Because Bordeaux is a great region that we can still say is, to some degree, indispensible to any wine list. Make people want Bordeaux because it is such a magnificent region that sometimes we think we know it so well that we end up ignoring it, and loosing touch. Make people want Bordeaux because it is often difficult to exist in a world perpetually in search of novelty. Make people want Bordeaux because sometimes it’s seen as being too familiar, too full of history and tradition, not exactly what’s “new”.

And yet, history is made of new things, a tradition of identities, and Bordeaux incarnates it all.

In conclusion

Bordeaux Oxygen's ambition is to show the new face of Bordeaux. Our parents have done so much, they have created what Bordeaux is today, and now it's our turn to build on this foundation. Our approach must respect this history. But Bordeaux has also evolved. Bordeaux has changed. We are the hands of this change. We hope to be, each at his or her own level, and with all modesty, the actors, the oxygen of what the tech-savvy could call Bordeaux 2.0.

What we do?

We're on the move, because wine is about the relationships we cultivate. A few of our successful actions: A benefit auction for sick children, the creation of a special blend of our wines, events in London, Paris and Brazil, in Australia, dinners in collaboration with well-known chefs, evenings to shake up the usual codes of Bordeaux wines, encounters with young vineyard owners from other regions… ! And much more to come: a BO2 wine road, a trip to Japan, encounters with sommeliers, we're never short of ideas. Wine is a story to be lived, told and shared, together.

Matthieu Cuvelier

Clos Fourtet 1er Grand Cru Classé de St Emilion
Château Poujeaux Cru Bourgeois, Moulis

To me, BO2 is about friendship, meeting new people, the exchanges we share and the joy of discovering and helping others discover new wines. It's a younger, more dynamic and festive way to promote our wines. It's also about informal, sociable gatherings to communicate more directly with our clients and consumers.

Clos Fourtet, a Cuvelier family estate since 2001, has been able to reaffirm its position at the heart of the 1st Grands Crus Classés, and is the expression of the determination and investment of a passionate family. Château Poujeau was purchased in 2008. Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu called in Nicolas Thienpont and Stéphane Derenoncourt, maintaining the teams already in place under the direction of Christophe Labenne, grandson of the previous owners.

To come

Emilie Gervoson

Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Pessac Léognan

Marketing and Communications Director, I strive to develop the specific nature and reputation of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion throughout the world.

BO2 is a group of young owners, each motivated and passionate about promoting their wines, in the pleasant atmosphere of events or diner parties…

As early as 1840, Château Larrivet Haut-Brion was listed among the best estates of Léognan. The estate is made up of 72.5 ha of vineyard, 61.5 ha of red and 11 ha of white, including a private garden, woodlands and meadows, for a total of approximately 100 ha. The program of modernization and investments in the winery and vineyard has allowed us to now produce wines that distinguish themselves by their elegance and style.

Basile Tesseron

Château Lafon-Rochet Saint-Estèphe

The grandson of Guy, who started it all, Basile is today at the head of the estate.

BO2 is not a union, or a simple association, but a common vision of Bordeaux. We came together quite naturally.

Château Lafon Rochet is a family estate of 45 hectares. It is one of the rare Grands Crus Classés in the Saint Estèphe appellation.

Juliette Bécot

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot Premier Grand Cru Classé Saint-Emilion
Château La Gomerie Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Château Joanin Bécot Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

Manager of Château Joanin Bécot and responsible for marketing and communication at Château Beau-Séjour Bécot.

For me, BO2 is a group of friends, each with a personal investment in their family's estates, who are all serious professionals but who don't take themselves too seriously. I think it's a friendly and fun way to promote our wines and share our ideas. In my opinion, this enables us to give our clients a dynamic and warm image of each and every one of us.

Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is a wine estate located in Saint-Émilion, Gironde. Located in AOC Saint-Émilion, it is a Premier grand cru classé B since the latest Saint-Émilion wine classification of 2006.

Jean Baptiste Bourotte

Château Bonalgue / Clos du Clocher / Château Monregard La Croix Pomerol
Château Les Hauts-Conseillants Lalande de Pomerol
Château du Courlat Lussac st-Emilion

CEO and Manager of the family's wine estates, in addition to the wine merchant company Ets Jean-Baptiste AUDY

Above all else, BO2 is, for me, good times with friends around a shared passion that gives us our spark: wine in general and our wines in particular. It's an opportunity to meet wine lovers around the world by organizing events that are fun and professional at the same time. If BO2 were to have only one objective, it would be to bring together those of us who want to share unforgettable moments around a good bottle of wine.

January 1, 1921: "cold weather, business is slow", a quote taken from the notebooks of my great-grandfather. I imagine that he was honestly surprised at the lack of activity on that first day of January! At Clos du Clocher, in Château Bonalgue… over the years, each and every one of us has written his own page. After a good bit of traveling, I came back to Pomerol and am today able to measure the good fortune that I have to work with passion and authenticity.

Jean Triaud

Château Gloria Saint-Julien
Château Saint-Pierre Saint-Julien

A proud member of BO2, I have the pleasure of promoting both my wines and those of the association throughout the world, surrounded by my friends and in a fun and dynamic atmosphere.

Both Château Saint-Pierre and Château Gloria are two jewels of the Saint-Julien appellation. Saint-Pierre is a fourth cru classé that my family has raised to the level of the best Médoc wines. Well-known to wine lovers, Château Gloria is also the pride and joy of my family as it was created by my grandfather, Henri Martin.

Benoit Trocard

Clos Dubreuil Saint Emilion Grand Cru
Clos de la Vieille Eglise Pomerol

15th generation of winemaker, General Manager of Vignobles Jean-Louis Trocard and Clos Dubreuil CEO

Co-founder of the association along with Alice and Jerome Tourbier, Bordeaux Oxygen is the very symbol of Generational Change in Bordeaux. Hard work and excellence above all else, being mindful of conviviality and friendship, together we are stronger.

In 2002, Benoit Trocard purchased this small estate located on a limestone soil plateau in Saint Christophe des Bardes. The vineyard is treated with utmost care, de-budding, leaf-thinning, green harvests, cover crops, in order to produce high-quality grapes that are perfectly ripe.

Marie & Sylvie Courselle

Château Thieuley Bordeaux

Marie is the Technical Director
Sylvie is the Marketing Director

The idea of sharing experiences, exchanging ideas, and combining our qualities and our energy to give a younger and more dynamic image of Bordeaux through BO2 instantly appealed to us. In addition, BO2 has allowed us to promote our wines with a select group of wine producers from our generation, each making fine wines, which on top of being enjoyable, is extremely motivating...

One of the jewels of the Bordeaux appellation for over 20 years, Château Thieuley is today under the joint direction of Marie and Sylvie Courselle, combining innovation and tradition in order to produce top quality and enjoyable red, white and rosé wines.

Magali et Thibaut Decoster

Clos des Jacobins Saint Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Château La Commanderie Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Château de Candale Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Château Roc de Candale Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

CEO - Ownerv

Clos des Jacobins is an ancient vineyard found on the western side of the medieval village of Saint-Emilion. The southern facing hills of clay and limestone soil have made Clos des Jacobins a leading winery in the appellation since its first classification in 1959. Today, Magali and Thibaut Decoster run the estate. They have entirely renovated the vineyard and the winery to best benefit from the exceptional terroir and modern technology.

Among the leaders of Bordeaux, BO2 is synonym of exceptional quality. It is an integral part of the notions of terroir, diversity, generations of knowledge and modern technology. With BO2, we add in friendship and a modern vision of wine. BO2 members bring a new dynamic, one that is professional, festive and fun to the world of Bordeaux wine.

Séverine & Jean-Jacques Bonnie

Château Malartic-Lagravière Pessac Léognan

Jean Jacques' parents purchased the estate in 1997. In 2003, Séverine and Jean Jacques took over the reigns and now share in the responsibilities. Since 2010, his sister and her husband help to manage the estate. Château Malartic-Lagravière, Gazin Rocquencourt and the bodega DiamAndes in Argentina together form Vignobles Malartic.

BO2 and us? A story of friendship, of trust, a craving to push onward and make things move. Always with an open mind and in pursuit of quality!

Located on the oldest terroir of Bordeaux's vineyards, Château Malartic-Lagravière, belonging in the 18th century to the illustrious Admiral of the king of France, the Count of Malartic, was purchased in 1997 by the Bonnie family. The estate was then entirely renovated to give the wines of Malartic-Lagravière, one of only six properties in Bordeaux to have both its red and white wines classified, all the splendor and quality that have made them internationally renowned.

Edouard Labruyère

Château Rouget Pomerol

Edouard Labruyère : representing the 6th generation of Labruyère wine producers, Edouard took over from his father to tend to the future of Rouget.

This tremendous gamble to bring together 18 personalities as different as they are complementary, 18 wines as delicious as they are diverse, inspires me at every one of our meetings. BO2 is for me, by far, a synthesis of an evident component of what Bordeaux is today: women and men who are keepers of a precious heritage and creators of tomorrow's great wines.

With 17 hectares today located on the Pomerol Plateau, Château Rouget has won acclaim since 1994. As the only Burgundy natives implanted in Bordeaux, every year we learn from our terroir and the successful marriage that is the blend of our merlots (85%) and our cabernet francs (15%).

Héloïse Aubert-Sénéchal

Château Ascension Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Château La Couspaude Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé
Château Haut-Gravet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
Château Ribebon Bordeaux Superieur
Château Macard Bordeaux Supérieur
Château Hyot Castillon Cotes de Bordeaux
Château German Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux

Héloïse is the 8th generation to uphold her family's history as wine producers.

Bordeaux Oxygen is a wonderful human adventure, with as many personalities as members. It's about sharing experiences, being complementary, dynamic and innovative. All from a group of young Bordeaux wine producers who are open to the world.

Château La Couspaude, located in the heart of Saint-Emilion, has been the jewel of the Aubert family for over a century. This 7 ha estate, located on the heights of the Saint-Emilion limestone plateau, is entirely surrounded by stonewalls, distinguishing it as one of the oldest estates in the village. The Château also sets itself apart by its underground cellar, where winemaking and barrel ageing take place.

Yseult de Gaye

Château Grand Corbin Manuel Saint Emilion Grand Cru

CEO - Owner

Château Grand Corbin Manuel is the newest member of the Sacred Union! I decided to join a group of friends with whom I share the same philosophy, the same quest: to produce wines that elegantly express the uniqueness of our terroir while, above all else, provide pleasure and enjoyment. Two words that perfectly represent Bordeaux Oxygen.

Estate owners in the Saint-Emilion area for several generations, Yseult has been at the head of the Saint-Emilion and Pomerol estates since 2006. From running the vineyard to marketing the bottles, she sets the pace. "By revitalizing the vineyard and the winery, the wines we produce today are unanimously recognized for being both delicate and complex."

Jean Antoine Nony

Château Grand Mayne Saint Emilion Grand Cru

Jean Antoine Nony has been working alongside his mother since the 2000 vintage. Both contribute to the excellence of Grand Mayne placing it among the best wines of Bordeaux.

Bordeaux Oxygen for me is a synonym of conviviality and excellence. Conviviality because the members of BO2 are all good friends from the same generation. We exchange ideas, viewpoints and we hope to revitalize the image of Bordeaux fine wines. Excellence because we are each a point of reference in our appellations.

Grand Mayne, a 15th century mansion, is one of the most prestigious vineyards in the Saint-Emilion municipality. Grand Mayne has been the family estate of Jean Nony since 1934. Jean-Pierre and Marie-Françoise Nony ran the estate from 1977 to 2001. After her husband Jean-Pierre passed away, Marie-Françoise continued to run the estate with the help of a qualified team including her eldest son Jean-Antoine.

Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu

Château Doisy Daëne Barsac, Cru classé en 1855
Château Cantegril Barsac
Clos Floridene Graves
Château Haura Graves
Château Reynon Cadillac-Côtes de Bordeaux

Jean Jacques Dubourdieu, belonging to the 7th generation of vineyard owners, assists his father Denis in the general management of their 5 estates.

BO2 is an ideal framework for a more modern communication strategy around the best of what the Bordeaux wine region has to offer: quality, diversity, hospitality and history. 20 wine producers, 20 styles, all with a shared passion in service of the vineyard and the wine. It's a great way to work together to take on the challenges and trials of tomorrow's viticulture.

The Dubourdieu family is originally from Barsac where, in 1924, they purchased the 4.5 ha of Doisy Daëne. Since then, without losing our passion for sweet wines, we have expanded into Graves and Côtes de Bordeaux. Today our estates represent 135 ha divided into 400 different parcels. Despite this relative development, we remain simple craftsmen, producing delicate and unique wines.

Emeline BORIE

Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac

The name Grand-Puy («puy» comes from the Latin word podium, meaning hill) describes this vineyard’s privileged location overlooking Pauillac, where the château reigns over a sea of vines. Included in the famous 1855 classification, Grand-Puy-Lacoste previously belonged to several families. In 1978, my family, the Borie bought Grand-Puy-Lacoste, because the previous owner appreciated our rigour and devotion to producing fine great growth wine in the Médoc.

My father, François-Xavier Borie, the present owner, is behind this superb estate’s renaissance. He has made major investments and constantly improved the quality of Grand-Puy-Lacoste in order to reflect all the finesse of its great Pauillac terroir. Taking part in BO2, it is becoming a member of the family where the wine is in the centre but stays a good excuse to exchange and share good moments. This group is above all a group of friends that wants to share its passion for the wine and transmit it.
